It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #5

This is a weekly event hosted by Sheila from One Persons Journey Through a World of Books. The main purpose of this meme is to discuss what we've been reading in the past week as well as those that will be read within this week. Do click on the image above to participate and join the fun!
Wow, the past two weeks had certainly be the week-with-not-so-much-reading for me. I sort of having a "reading slump" after the long weekend break the other week. Nevertheless, I am happy that I got the chance to meet my parents during the holiday, spend some quality time with them  and lavishing all those great homemade dishes that my mum cooked.

So for this week, I really need to inject some adrenaline into my mellowing reading mood to keep it going again. I'd be glad if I can at least finish two out of these three books (link to Goodreads):
(1) Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory -3/4 done
(2) The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan - 1/2 done
(3) The Gift by Cecelia Ahern

Wish me luck everyone. Never thought that reading slump could really be this bad, yikes! So I really hope that this week would be better =)

Happy reading!

  2. I will be looking forward to your review of The Boleyn Inheritance! I thought the Lightning Thief was good. Of course not as good as the first Harry Potter books, but still good :)

  3. Good luck finishing them off, I think you are now the fourth person I have seen reading The Lightning Thief, what am I missing out on?

I haven't read any of Phillippa Gregory's books, but my sister has and she really likes them.

Muse - not much measures up to the Harry Potter series does it :-)

My Its Monday post is a classic
That's the second time that I have seen someone mention the Lightning Thief. I hope you enjoyed it.

You have lots of books coming up, hope you get through them all.

My Its Monday post pales in comparison to yours

  11. I think reading slumps hit us all, but I am sure this too shall pass. Hope you enjoy all three of the books you have planned for this week. I am interested in reading your review on Boleyn Inheritance, it sound like a book I would enjoy.

  12. Reading Slumps are just our bodies' way of telling us that they need variety. My slumps usually correspond with my visit to my parents since I do hate losing any time spent with them to books. (amazing, I know, since I'm addicted to books. LOL) Keep pushing through and before you know it you'll be back up to par in your reading.

BTW, I'm so jealous of you since you're reading The Lightning Thief. I saw the movie last weekend and adored it, but still haven't read the books. I've been dying to get my hands on them, but had other books that I was dying for even more that I purchased instead. *grin*

Hope you enjoy your reading this week and good luck getting out of your slump. I know you can!

  13. I've read two of Ahern's books and loved them both: Thanks for the Memories and P.S. I Love You. I've read several of Riordan's Tres navarre books and liked them a lot. I haven't read any or his Percy Jackson books. I'll have to fix that. Happy reading!

  17. I'm curious to read your review for The Boleyn Inheritance - I thought it was good but didn't compare to The Other Boleyn Girl. It might be due to the character development in the first book.

    Enjoy!

  22. Reading slumps...ugh. I completely understand. Most of the time when I have this problem it's because I just can't seem to get into the books I'm trying to read.

Hopefully this week will be better for you and you can get back into your reading groove.

PS...did I tell you your books are on there way yet? They should be there soon!
