It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #9

This is a weekly event hosted by Sheila from One Persons Journey Through a World of Books. The main purpose of this meme is to discuss what we've been reading in the past week as well as those that will be read within this week. Do click on the image above to participate and join the fun!
Wow! It has been ages since the last time I did my Monday post and I surely missed it. Life, in general, has been way too busy the past couple of weeks and now I'm determine to start joining this weekly event once again. Since yesterday was Mother's Day, I hope it isn't too late for me to wish all mothers out there Happy Mother's Day!

Books that I've reviewed recently:
(1) City of Bones by Cassandra Clare: Brace yourself as you embark this journey and getting immerse in the world created by Clare, where you can find troll living in an apartment complex and vampires riding motorcycles that could fly. And hold on tighter as you reach the OMG moment close to the end of the book ;) Highly addictive and highly enticing making this book a highly recommended read!

(2) The Choice by Nicholas Sparks: Another simple, heart-warming and bittersweet book by Sparks. I didn’t really enjoy this book much because I think the pattern of this book is too similar from his other writing. However, I believe that those who haven’t taste any or some other better books by Sparks will still be enthralled by this story.

(3) Morganville Vampires Series by Rachel Caine: Highly enjoyable books that I recommend to those who love paranormal books. The series combine suspenseful moments, edgy mysteries, juicy romance and light, funny banters that keep readers wanting more.

(4) Love You Hate You Miss You by Elizabeth Scott: This delicate writing and story telling by Elizabeth Scott is a moving and gripping read that has an ability to touch the hearts of those who love reading about human's emotions and how ones thrive under unexpected circumstances. Highly recommended to everyone.

(5) Tithe by Holly Black: Not something I would recommend unless you’re up to something really dark and not the kind who squirm when reading foul languages. And since I didn't really enjoy this book all that much, I'm interested to know what you think of it if you've read it.

Books read last week (Links to Goodreads):
(1) Kiss of Death by Rachel Caine: Book #8 of the Morganville Vampires series! I enjoyed it =)
(2) The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown: Re-reading this as I wasn't entirely happy about it the first time I read it. Glad that I gave this another chance because I ended up loving it.

Plan to read this week (Links to Goodreads):
(1) Seers of Light by Jennifer DeLucy
(2) The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

Hoping this week to turn up great for everyone!
Until later, have a pleasant start of the week =)

  4. I hope you enjoy the Percy Jackson book. I love Cassandra Clare's books and can't wait to get my hands on Clockwork Angel.

I've only read Glass Houses but I may have to give book two a try sometime. Right now I feel like I can barely keep up with my review books and the interlibrary loans.

I hope you enjoy your reading. Have a great week!

  6. You've been reading some great books recently and I've really enjoyed your reviews so much!

As for the Tithe situation...well, I actually really liked the overall series, although I do agree with you on the points you made. It is very dark and for some reason the entire series didn't come together for me until I finished all three books. But I really like Holly Black's writing style so I kept pushing through. If you don't, I wouldn't blame you for giving up on it. Good luck!

Hope you have a fabulous reading week!

  11. Hi Shy, sometimes books do deserve a second look. I often think your enjoyment of a book can be more about your mood than anything else. Hope you have a great week!

  18. I want to re-read The DaVinci Code too. I first read it during a 19-hour layover at an airport in London, and I kind of rushed through it. I'll have to give it another chance.
